1863 Escape Room Introduce

Welcome to 1863 Escape Room, located at 344 Baltimore St, Gettysburg, PA 17325, USA, and featured in the Theme Park Directory. 1863 Escape Room offers immersive and challenging escape room experiences for individuals and groups looking for a unique entertainment activity.

The environment at 1863 Escape Room varies depending on the chosen room. One described experience begins in what appears to be a standard portable toilet, which locks and dims upon entry, creating an immediate sense of immersion and perhaps panic. The reviewer noted 'realistic' smells that enhanced the immersion, making it easy to forget they were in a paid attraction. Another room was described as well put together. The location is noted as convenient with no wait times for entry.

The services offered at 1863 Escape Room include themed escape room adventures. One room featured creative puzzles, such as decoding a message on wall graffiti. The staff, including a host named Kate, are described as awesome, very knowledgeable, and a sweetheart, enhancing the overall experience. However, one review mentions a timer that sounds like someone banging on the door and shouting, which might detract from the immersion for some. Another potential service aspect to consider is the ventilation, which is described as 'authentic,' suggesting it might not be ideal, and bringing a nose plug is recommended by one reviewer.

Features of 1863 Escape Room include challenging and well-constructed escape room scenarios. The puzzles are described as creative. A unique feature of at least one room is its unconventional starting point in a portable toilet, designed for high immersion, including 'realistic' smells. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The location is convenient with no reported wait times. However, potential drawbacks include the immersion-breaking timer sound and potentially poor ventilation. One final puzzle in the described room requires a significant amount of trust in the contents of the tank. Despite these quirks, the overall experience can be highly engaging and rewarding, even leading to a sense of accomplishment and a willingness to return.

As the provided information highlights the challenging and creative puzzles, the immersive (albeit sometimes unpleasant) environment of at least one room, the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the convenient location with no wait times, but also notes potential issues with the timer sound and ventilation, local users should consider these aspects. There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews. The experience begins as you step into what appears to be a standard portable toilet. But then, the door locks behind you and the lights dim. Panic sets in as you realize the toilet paper isn’t just for hygiene—it's your first clue. Pros: -Immersive! The “realistic” smells made it easy to forget I was paying to be trapped in a box. -Creative puzzles, like decoding a message on the wall graffitied in Sharpie. -Conveniently located and no wait to get in. Cons: -The timer sounds suspiciously like someone banging on the door and shouting, "Hurry up!" -The ventilation is... authentic, so bring a nose plug. -Solving the final puzzle requires too much trust in the tank’s contents. Overall, I escaped with 30 seconds to spare, a deep sense of accomplishment, and a mild case of claustrophobia. Would I do it again? Absolutely.

Extremely friendly staff! Our room, Rebel Recon, was challenging but still fun. A perfect kick off to a night on the town with friends. They didn't lock us in, so we were free to use the restroom if needed, and they were helpful with hints without being "too helpful". We'd definitely go back to experience another room!

We’ve done two of their rooms and love both. The puzzles and riddles are tough but not impossible. It’s fun that they’re on theme with the town and the time period. If you visit Gettysburg this is a fun evening activity! Bonus it’s next to an ice cream shop.

Did the Gettysburg Gold room back in Sept 2023. Puzzles were creative and had a nice flow. Kept on track with the train station theme very well. Excellent room with lots of interesting puzzles that I highly recommend - the five stars is for this room. Also did the Rebel Recon room. The theme of the room was basically Battle of Gettysburg, which made it unique to the area, but seems they may have sacrificed some of the game design for historical accuracy. There were some puzzles that felt more like filler to use the time vs following a flow, and quite a lot of locks. I wouldn't recommend this room, do Gettysburg Gold instead.
