A wonderful place to just sit quietly or fish by the shore. Not many benches, just one seat, but the view is lovely and the array of birds that can be seen, especially at dusk is a delight for any bird watcher. Afterwards, the nearby restaurants offer an assortment of food to eat and places to just hang out and chill.

Bird Island is one of those hidden gems of Lakewood; inaccessible by anything but a boat (unless you have wings). At dusk, the island is populated by all our local avian friends, who come to rest there after a long day of visiting the neighborhood front yards in search of insects to eat. One can only imagine the fowl discussions that take place on this unique and exclusive destination.

It's a marsh-island with decrepit trees and some birds in the middle of a lake in the middle of some suburbs with an overlook off of San Jose Blvd. I'm not sure how the neighborhood feels about having the parks department denoting this lump of wet grass a park so tourists leave cars in their street... But, park at the seafood restaurant instead; and walk up the sidewalk.

This is one of those hidden gems in Jacksonville. The area surrounding it is quite nice, the small dam gives you place to sit and enjoy the view. Definitely a very nice place
