Captain Leonard Destin Park

A great little spot to take the kids even if there is a red flag. This spot is always calm but it's busy!

Nice, little, and quaint beach and splash pad area. Room for about 20-30 cars. Beach entrance from sand to water has sea sea grass/weeds, but whole park is extremely clean and maintained.

Capt. Leonard Destin Park is small at just under 3.5 acres but it is a hidden gem. It has a playground, boardwalk, and pier. The towering trees is what really made this a park to visit. That's because the trees serve as home - a rookery - for blue herons. I've seen blue herons from afar, but it was here where I really got to appreciate the beauty (and wingspan) of these interesting birds.

This hidden gem is an excellent small park to bring the kids, have a picnic or enjoy the water and the views! It has a playground and splash pad for the kids. It has a small beach and a pier. It also has covered picnic tables. It also has a launch ramp for non motorized floats such as paddle boards. There are also very nice restrooms facilities! Such a beautiful and peaceful place amidst the hustle and bustle of Destin!

Absolutely wonderful spot! The park is beautiful and the bay(although slightly stinky because it’s a bay) was fantastic and about the only time the kids got to play in the ocean because of riptide warnings everywhere else. We had so much fun and spent half a day with them in the park! Love the boards to learn about Leonard Destin and his family too!
