Castaway Island Preserve

Beautiful nature gateway. Pretty small trail but very peaceful. Great to come here on a New Year’s Day walk. Sadly did not see much wild life but there are many informative signs of the wild life animals that do live in the salty marsh environment. It was my first time observing this type of environment. There is a main Island trail and on the side there are some observance spots as well.

Beautiful views. Love the small boat/paddle board access they offer. I noticed they recently added a paddle board rental station which is super cool! We went on a shorter nature walk, but I’d love to see how far they go. It seems like they have some pretty long ones. They have many overlook docks and views. I’ve never felt like it’s crowded because of how spread out everything is, and how much they offer.

Castaway is our favorite local nature walk! Whenever we need a quick decompress to end or start the day or to walk the dog this is our go-to nature walk. The views from the boardwalks are spectacular & serene & it always feels peaceful on the estuaries. There are info boards along the paths as well to educate you on the wildlife, habitat & history of the preserve & the grounds are always well maintained. They just added paddle boards so I'm going to try that soon. We love Castaway Island Preserve!

Beautiful place to take a walk, fish, kayak or picnic. Some amazing wildlife/landscape photo ops.

Decent little preserve and not very busy. Saw some wildlife here as well. Birds, lizards, and crabs. Parking is available for free. There is no entry fee. The facilities have been vandalized by graffiti but overall it was a nice place to take a nature walk. It is decently kept with recent maintenance to the wooden boardwalks. Very little trash. It can get a little humid and would possibly want to wear bug spray if your easily annoyed by flies and such.
