Comfort Inn Fort Mill Amusement Park at Carowinds Blvd

Upon arriving for check in, we were told that the hotel's system was experiencing technical delays. We were not the first folks being told this, as there was about 7-10 other guests waiting in the lobby for the system to come back up. We knew this issue was not anything the hotel employees could have fixed or done anything differently about as they were trying to handle the situation as efficiently as possible. However, our re-entry into Carowinds was getting jeopardized with the amount of time we spent waiting for the system re-boot, forcing us to check in at a later time after we were done spending time at the park (around midnight AKA when the park closes). After coming back to check in for the second time around midnight, we were relieved that there was no line of people and the front desk worker was happy to check us in with no issue.... or so we thought. We were handed key cards and got all the way to our designated room with our heavy bags of luggage when we swiped our key card, opened the door to find that the extra lock on the top part of the door was activated. We were confused, double checking to make sure the room number on the key card matched the room we were at. Thinking this was a freak accident where the lock latched when the last person left, we tried to free the lock from the outside when we heard a person on the inside yell "CAN WE HELP YOU?". This was utterly terrifying, embarrassing, and downright unacceptable. We were given key cards to a room already occupied. Imagine how badly that situation could have been. Very unsafe and a violation of privacy. We almost entered an occupied room. If we had gotten into the room, would the hotel be responsible for medical bills had the person felt threatened by intruders breaking into their room at midnight and felt the need to protect themselves? This was astonishing. What was even more astonishing was walking back to the front desk and telling the front desk worker who appeared very annoyed that this happened (not at us but at the situation in general). She informed us there was only ONE more room in the entire hotel. What would have happened if there was none?? Sleeping in our car?? This room that we got instead also had the inappropriate number of beds than the arrangements on our original booking. No discount was offered to compensate for such a big mistake, which in my opinion, this hotel stay should have been entirely free for a mistake this big. Definitely our last time staying at this establishment while visiting Carowinds and will be sure to discourage others from staying here as well.

We booked this room when we were planning our trip to SCarowinds, we live about 3hrs away and didn't want to try and drive home after leaving the park. The customer service was good, even though I had to pay a $50 deposit upon arrival after already having paid for the room two weeks before the trip. I understand that it was a deposit for damages, but I feel like you should be told about that ahead of time. There were several issues with our room.. We killed several bugs, mainly roaches. The sheets, although they seemed clean, were all discolored and stained and the beds were just uncomfortable. We also had a light out by one of the beds. As far as the bathroom, everything seemed clean, but the toilet stopper didn't work properly so it ran most of our stay and the tub backed up each time one of us took a shower. The location was very convenient, but with the price and all the issues, I don't think I'd book here again.

They have a nice Continental breakfast and friendly staff working there. It is pet friendly and a very clean hotel. We came here through the FEMA relief program and the staff was very helpful. It is a very convenient location to Charlotte and other surrounding areas. Definitely be visiting this location again in the future.

The service at this location is extremely friendly and helpful. Smiles always go a long way. The included breakfast is great with things like scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, bagels, lots of juice options and even waffle makers. The reason for the 3 stars is only because the building is in serious need of a remodel. The rooms and linen were very clean and it's obvious that house keeping does their best making an aging hotel look as good as possible. The location is superb with it being right off the interstate, directly beside Carowinds, and surrounded by restaurants and gas stations. A good option if the Ritz is out of your budget but you still need a place for the night.

My rating is based solely on customer service. Mickey (I hope I got that right) was amazing to talk to and so helpful and understanding. He went out of his way and took his time to explain the process behind a situation I was dealing with. Because of him, I was able to get a solution to my problem quickly. Thank you Mickey for your help, compassion, and understanding! You gave top notch customer service!!
