Diversions Game Room
REVIEWS
This is the quintessential arcade, it doesn't have the personality that arcades did in the 1980s but it's managed to hang on to the charm from the 90s while continuing to stay fairly up-to-date with offerings of new cabinets. The staff is always fantastic and I would recommend anyone who's looking for a little bit of nostalgia 4 wants to share part of their childhood with their kids come here. It is absolutely worth the time.

I am so happy this place is still standing. I used to spend all my money in here back in the early 90s. They still lots of fun games.

My son and I love this place and come often. It’s clean and has enough games to keep the whole family happy. Won big today, Naruto and a Nintendo Switch. The owner is amazing and almost always there to ensure everyone is doing well.

Some lore: There used to be a Diversions at just about every location in the city - one on Perrin Beitel for example. Then there was a period where nearly every arcade in the city closed, including Rocky J's and CyberZone. You might be wondering why this is significant. This place used to be *huge*. People would gather at Diversions San Antonio like it was a night club. Now, it's vacant for most hours of the day. It's open until 2AM. How?! A lot of this might have been explained by the popularity among local Dance Dance Revolution enthusiasts. Except even this went away when they made the machine unplayable by making the lifebar difficulty too high and the cost per credit unrealistically expensive, to the point that they were clearly driving business away deliberately. Even with a single employee on staff, their hours and electricity bill don't make sense. They're also located suspiciously close to Northtrail Drive, which I encourage you to Google. They've barely updated their games in years. Their maintenence is little to none. Even arcades dedicated to this sort of thing maintain hours like 6PM -2AM. I'm not saying this is a front, but HOW does it stay operational? I've wondered this for years.

This is a fun way to spend an hour or two. They have a little variety of older games and newer games. We enjoyed playing a mix. They also have air hockey. We used cash to buy tokens but they have an ATM on site.
