Dollywood Express

The Dollywood Express train ride is really fun with comfortable seats. The old narrow gauge locomotive is an original Baldwin and an actual steam engine. The train station is a good place to wait with a nice cover and seating. The train follows a long route around the park and back with great scenery.

We love Dollywood! We went on local days so we got in for $5 each. We enjoyed the Christmas decorations and loved the rides. We won things from the arcade, bought cotton candy and pizza.. we enjoyed the Dolly Parton theater. It was pretty magical! There's an indoor playground my 5 year old really enjoyed. We played carnival games and won prizes! It's just a wonderful experience all around!

Always fun to ride to see all of the park and great escape to sit and relax. Dont sit too close to the front because cause possibly get cinders in your eyes (little girl behind me did on this trip, I was wearing sunglasses). They board the train 15 minutes before each trip. Times are always posted.

The train itself is awesome. The fact that it was used in operations during WW2 and is still in use today is impressive. But the ride itself was less impressive. The train does not go around the entire park like most theme park trains do. Make sure if you have young ones with you that you either sit closer to the rear of the train or bring glasses to keep the cinders and ashes out of their eyes as this is a coal fired train that spews that stuff all over the front couple cars.
