Future Nightmares Introduce

Future Nightmares, located in the Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines, Iowa, is a unique entertainment experience that combines elements of science fiction and horror. Created by musician Sparky Sinn, this immersive show offers a 20-minute journey into a world of "sci-fi experiments gone scary wrong."

Future Nightmares is not a traditional amusement park with rides and games. Instead, it offers a theatrical experience where participants become "scientists" and witness (or even participate in) experiments conducted by a mad scientist and his robot servant. The show incorporates lights, sound, and special effects to create a suspenseful and engaging atmosphere.

Located on the lower level of Merle Hay Mall, Future Nightmares provides a convenient and accessible entertainment option for residents and visitors of Des Moines. The show is designed to be thrilling and entertaining, offering a unique blend of science fiction and horror that is sure to appeal to fans of both genres.

Future Nightmares is the only year-round haunted attraction in the Des Moines area, making it a perfect destination for those seeking a thrill any time of the year. Whether you're looking for a fun night out with friends or a unique date idea, Future Nightmares offers an experience that you won't soon forget.

This was a really cool experience. I brought my 10-year-old son on November 2nd as we weren't out of the Halloween spirit yet. We both had a great time and they've really put together quite the show. We're looking forward to checking out the Christmas experience and highly recommend checking out this one if you have a chance. We give it two thumbs, and a severed toe, way up! Keep doing what you're doing, Sparky SINN!

Came across Future Nightmares while wandering the Merle Hay Mall, and they were closed at the time but the "push the button" jump scare animatronic and what few set pieces I could see piqued my interest. I searched them up and was under the impression it was a year-long "haunted house" of sorts, and decided to buy tickets for me and a friend. Once I got the tickets, it was then I found out it was a scary show -- that got me even more interested! Went to a 6pm show on a Friday evening, unfortunately it was just me and my friend for that time slot. The showmanship was great, gave us a very "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" meets "Mystery Science Theater 3000" type of vibe and humor. I also want to give massive kudos to the amount of animatronics used, with the majority appearing to be completely original with a few "store-bought" (but clearly altered) ones to create the set and story. You do participate, at least during the show I attended, by pressing buttons and interacting with some set pieces under the direction of the cast. I feel like it would have been a lot more fun/entertaining with a larger group, though my friend and I still had a good time. It's definitely on the cheesier side of "horror," but I did get startled by some of the special effects. The atmosphere was great, though the loud droning sound effect did get repetitive towards the end. It was a fun experience and I will definitely be back for more, especially around October where I feel it's more likely more people will attend. Major props to the guys who run this, it's a really fun and unique idea and it's obvious a lot of love and effort has been put into creating FUTURE NIGHTMARES!

I have to admit, I haven't done the show yet. I just stumbled across this place while wandering around the mall. Their display is fantastic. Scared the crap out of us. The actor that came out had an awesome costume and makeup. We plan to do asap.

It was a little late Father’s Day gift for my dad, since he was out of state and he loves horror so I tried finding something around in Des Moines that would have something up his alley, and we came across this little place. It’s fun and interactive, and the workers there had a very clean and cool set up, definitely something entirely of its own :D. If you enjoy funny quips and a unique experience this is the place.

Tried another new thing tonight! We missed their Halloween one. We were the only two in our showtime so my husband got to do all the experiments and robot santa said he was naughty haha 🤣 we both jumped a little a few times but it's a fun experience! Thanks Future Nightmares If you do more next year we will be back! And I was serious I'd love to help you promote by you turning my powerchair(tonight i had my scooter not powerchair)into an experiment with a sign on the back that says follow me to help get people to the shows! We told your helper at the door my ideas 🙂❤️ love love love this concept you have come up with! Thank you for a fun night! It was very entertaining! When we came out people were trying to decide if they wanted to do the next show and asked us if it was fun scary and worth it we said heck yes! You were very accommodating to me making sure i could enjoy the experience with no issues including taking extra time getting me in and out and moving chairs before we went in to make room for me. We will be telling people about it and we hope you come up with new ideas and shows in the future and I'm very serious about coming to help promote anytime just get in touch with me ❤️
