Holiday Inn Express & Suites Amarillo West, an IHG Hotel

Staff was very friendly. Found piles of hair trimmings on carpet (weird I know). The hot tub is actually hot and has really good jets. The pool is too cold for younger kids. Location is convenient. Breakfast was really good one day and your average breakfast another. Will stay here again. If you are traveling with littles, upgrade to the king suite, the extra space is so worth it!

Positive: - Overall it’s a good hotel , comfortable bed with soft pillows. - Breakfast and parking is free. - For the gym , it’s still under renovation but the hotel gave access to nearby gym - Crunch Fitness. Just used our room card we can able to access that gym facility for free. The only downside is the Crunch Fitness, which you have to cross the road to get to, and there is no zebra cross. This made it inconvenient. Negative: - The carpet in our room is dusty and feels a bit sticky. ( Room no 123)

I’ve stayed in pet-friendly hotels before, but this one redefined the term. When we walked into the lobby, it felt like a canine convention—just as many dogs as people, and I'm pretty sure a few were running the front desk. When we got to our room, the barking symphony started. Apparently, the dogs next door had been abandoned by their owners for a fancy dinner out. The hotel staff assured us they'd "do something" about the noise at 10:00 pm—because, clearly, that's the universally agreed dog bedtime. The dogs didn’t realize there was a set bedtime, as their occasional howls echoed through the hallways at all hours, keeping things lively. The elevators? A total wild card. Forget sharing the ride with a fellow guest—you’re hanging out with a Golden Retriever who looks like he's late for a board meeting. The highlight of the experience was breakfast. A St. Bernard plopped down beside us, looking like he wanted to weigh in on the merits of the scrambled eggs. He loudly lapped up water from his bowl on the floor beside our table, making sure everyone knew he was staying hydrated. His 4-inch-long hair seemed to have explored every corner of the hotel before making its way to our toast. The grand finale came when we were leaving our room. The folks across the hall must have had the same idea, because as their door opened, out lunged their dog—a four-legged linebacker—barking like we’d just broken into his house. Nothing like a surprise heart attack to cap off your stay! Might I suggest they either create a separate dining room for the pets and separate floors for non pet owners or just fully embrace it and rebrand as a pet hotel? It’s only fitting, considering one of the staff was out in the hallway cleaning up stray dog treats like it was the aftermath of a canine snack party.

Quick check-in, very clean and modern rooms, slept very comfortably, my little one thoroughly enjoyed the pool! Delicious breakfast, I got there slightly early forgetting it was Saturday but good thing because people came in droves right at 7am, literally shoving to line up and coughing over the food (people need to work on their manners and respect each other).

Stayed at this location several times on my way to and from Colorado, hotel was always clean, front desk people were always really nice. The guy that works the desk and the manager were both really nice and welcoming to my family and I everytime we come by and they know us by name at this point. Can’t recommend staying here enough
