Quality Inn & Suites Altoona - Des Moines

Do not stay here! Checked in Sunday for a FedEx work trip got back to room after work yesterday and found bed bugs, 3 of them, there is black mold horrible! Tried to check out at 5 when I got back from work yesterday they refused. He says that the room is beautiful and there's no bugs and no mold and because my stuff was in there for 2 hours of the paid day he will not refund, even though i informed them i was leaving to seek safe haven. To further the insult even though I stayed at another Choice Hotel last night, he would not refund me for the room so I paid for two Choice Hotel rooms last night for just me. Stay away from this hotel the service is horrible and the cleanliness is horrible and I don't know about anybody else but bed bugs are not something you want to take home as a souvenir.

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The best thing about it was its proximity to Adventure Land. The bed and pillows were okay, and so was the room. However, the coffee basket in the room looked like it hadn't been refilled and the room wasn't cleaned properly. There were broken hangers and plastic sales hangers in the room, and the sheer curtain was all ripped up. Additionally, I noticed sticky spots in the hall and on the stairs. The pool was disappointing, as it was murky and had dead bugs in it. I also found the receptionist to be overly friendly. They would show up in the hallway and even in the pool room while my sister and I were there, making us feel uncomfortable. When my teens asked for spare towels, the receptionist hounded them with questions and made them feel like they were doing something wrong, despite providing the room information.

Do not book with this hotel unless you are absolutely sure you will be staying there!! My family and I were traveling from PA to UT and I made a reservation for an overnight stay. Approximately 2 hrs after booking, we needed to cancel the reservation due to a road emergency. I asked for an exemption so I would not be charged $175 for a hotel reservation I could not possibly make. I was denied and charged the $175. It just seems ridiculous to charge me for a two hour old reservation. And zero compassion for cross country travelers. WILL NEVER BOOK WITH QUALITY INN AGAIN! Glad to see a response by the staff at Quality Inn, however, I was advised to contact the booking agent when a cancellation was necessary. My agent advised me to then contact Quality Inn to ask for an exemption since the booking was only a few hours old. I contacted them by email but was denied a refund followed up with attitude. Very poor customer service. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The front desk service was excellent. The room was clean and well organized. The A/C worked perfectly and wasn't overly noisy. The WiFi worked great. It was just an all around perfect stay.

For $250/night —- Room was musty! Bedding was stained on both beds. AC doesn’t work. Carpet was sticky. Felt so dirty after staying here. Breakfast was gross and not fresh. Run down hotel that needs major updates! 0 stars. Run away, don’t stay.
