Riverview Park

So this is a large riverside community park with miles and miles of connecting trails. As is the case with many metro area parks, vagrants are present, particularly on the interconnected trails up and down the river. Graffiti, trash and debris at multiple locations. Once I was passed by two law enforcement vehicles on the trail, I knew it was not the venue for me. Pretty setting and the main park area was very nice. Parking is sufficient for any size rig or RV. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming.

This was our second time going to Riverview Park for a concert. What a great venue. It's large, so you can put your chair anywhere and still have a great view. The sound is amazing. The stage itself is beautiful, with multicolored lights adding to the experience. If you go for Rendezvous on Riverview, you get food trucks and drink options in addition to the free concert. We went on July 5th and there were fireworks too!! Well done Des Moines!! This is a great park, rich in history (I read the entire story every time I go there), with a fun playground for the kids. They just added real bathrooms, so if you take the kids there for a picnic, you don't have to use a portable potty. All around great!!

Amazing park completed in 2021-22. Built on the old Riverside Amusement park grounds. Tons of fun for ages 2-12ish. The playground surface is a very soft squishy rubber and Turf mix. The equipment is new and in amazing condition. Great for kids.

I visited Riverview Park on Saturday August 31st, 2024 for The Kingdom Living Recovery Festival. I brought both my children and they had a blast. The playground and the inflatables that the festival had set up kept my 3 year old smiling and running for hours. Great park with lots of space.

Great new park that has many options for inclusion for children with special needs. There is a merry-go-round that has space to roll in two wheel chairs. There are two bucket swings with pull down support braces and a zip line with a bucket swing. Several portions of the main climbing structure can also be accessed by children in mobility devices. The paths in the park are made of smooth, wide sidewalks. The play areas have the thickest, most comfortable surface I've ever felt. There are lots of built in benches for parents to sit and watch kids play. There is a section with some shading dedicated to smaller children that has rocking horses and spinning seats and a merry-go-round that is low to the ground for smaller children. There is another section that has musical instruments for the kids to play. The park also has a huge, open green space and a large bandstand for cultural events.
