Great little visitor center with a small gift shop with snacks and souvenirs. The trails are very nice to walk above the waters. Lots of life around and excellent picture spots.

We didn’t have time to go deeper into the Everglades! This stop was beautiful and it’s surprising how much life you get to see even when you’re only there for an hour or two. I wish there were mosquito warnings posted everywhere though, I caught mine in time but my friends were not so lucky. Expect a regular drive by of mosquitos.

TL;DR: Royal Palm Visitor Center is a large facility near the southern entrance to the Everglades with spacious flush restrooms. Be aware the visitor center may close early, so plan accordingly if you want to explore inside or get your passport stamped. The Royal Palm Visitor Center is a well-maintained stop near the southern entrance to Everglades National Park. The bathrooms are detached from the main building but under the same roof, offering flush toilets and spacious stalls—three or four per side, which is very convenient. I was disappointed to find that the visitor center had already closed by 3:45 PM, even though there were still plenty of people outside. Unfortunately, this meant I didn’t get a chance to explore the exhibits or stamp my National Park passport. If visiting, I recommend stopping by the visitor center earlier in the day to ensure you have enough time to enjoy it. Despite this, it’s a great starting point for hikes and exploring the Everglades.

Clean rest rooms and water station to refill water. Note that there are no facilities at any of the other short walks in the park until you reach Flamingo. Plenty of free parking. Interesting that warning Signs are posted to beware that vultures in the parking can chew rubber off your car. We did not have any issues on our visit but tarps are available to throw over your vehicle. Anhinga trail starts here and is fabulous. We saw crocs and purple gallinule walking on the lily pads near the visitor center. Shop sells souvenirs and park rangers were on duty.
