I bought a Groupon to visit the zoo with my kids and it saved us a lot of money. The zoo is great with lots of great animals to see. I didn't like that you had to pay an additional fee to see the butterflies. I get the other animal experiences where you feed them or get to hold them. Overall, it was a great experience. We had a lot of fun and although there were a lot of people there it didn't feel too packed since there is a lot of space. Next time we will have to ride the train.

The San Antonio Zoo is a fantastic destination for families and animal lovers, offering a wide variety of animals and interactive exhibits. The zoo is well-maintained, with spacious habitats and plenty of shaded areas to make it comfortable even in warmer weather. Highlights include the large African savanna area, the butterfly garden, and unique experiences like feeding giraffes. There are also fun activities for kids, such as a petting zoo and a train ride. The zoo’s commitment to conservation and education is evident, making it both enjoyable and informative. It’s a great way to spend a day exploring and learning about wildlife.

A day well spent. Beautiful set up for kids to experience watching new animals and getting information about them. Their reptile section is so cool and have many kinds of snakes, lizards and all different kinds of reptiles.

We used their parking garage, which is quite a long walk to the entrance. Lots of construction and maintenance was going on. We had a difficult time finding shaded areas. They had an interesting array of animals from all over the world. The signage could have been much better. A lot of the terrain is rough, with some areas being unsafe tripping hazards. Stupid Halloween and promotional graphics and words were written over many of the enclosures' glass panels, interfering with the view. Some vendor booths were closed, but it was midday on a Saturday in early October. Many of the animals' enclosures seemed rather small, especially compared to other zoos. It would be nicer to have more shade on and around the walkways. Also, more seating near the walkways would be a great benefit for those with mobility or pain issues. I can't comment on the food, because we didn't purchase any. The drinks were expected to be expensive, and they were. We went on a fairly hot day, and it seemed like the accommodations could have been better for the heat. They had a good variety of reptiles and birds. We were offended by being asked to pay an extra $8 just to go into their kangaroo viewing area. We've never seen anything like that at any other zoo. Sure, you can expect to pay extra for personal experiences, feeding the animals, etc., but not just to go look at them. I thought that's why we paid admission. Overall, they had a lot of interesting animals. There is a Kiddie Park on the grounds. It looks like there is a separate entrance for that.

Came here with my mom for her COSA employee appreciation day recently so it was exclusive to employees and their families. Staff is EXTREMELY accommodating and knowledgeable. You can tell that everyone loves what they do and they're happy to help people and teach people about the wild life. I hadn't been to the zoo for many years so I didn't remember much but it seems that there's been a lot of development since then and different attractions. Lots of bathrooms and places to get water - was impressed by the accessibility and layout. I'm so appreciative of the event planners and zoo staff for making such an awesome experience for everyone. Butterfly exhibit was my absolute favorite part!
