South Beach Park and Sunshine Playground

Love it, such a beautiful park where my son loves to skate and stay away from those who play in the streets, to be completely honest. Thus, the intrinsic beauty and the extrinsic beauty of the park is so awesome and joyful for me and I am so grateful children, kids, and teenagers & young adults have such a wonderful and safe and well kept park they can use to their absolute best advantage and in their best interests too and it's so neat for me when I go watch my son, I also observe others doing the same thing; all humble, polite, and working to better their craft no matter the type, skating rollerblading, skooters, bikes, and more, for the little kids to swing, and I get to experience all that joy while observing my son experiencing pure joy, and it's so amazing to me to have a chance to relive it at 43 because now I am back skating again!!!

I was about a quarter mile into a Sunday run when I ran by this empty basketball court with a ball seemingly waiting for me in the corner. F the run! God was begging me to do one of my high school basketball workouts. Started with the Mikan Drill then went to pound dribble workouts up and down the court. Next was elbow jumpers. HARD jab, one dribble pull up, make ten at each elbow. As I'm typing this I realize no one cares about the details of my HS basketball workouts, so I'll spare you. But, I will say few things bring me more joy than a good solo hoop workout. I don't know why, maybe it's just nostalgia. Maybe it's when I used to do these I had the whole world in front of me. "Should I go to Duke or Kentucky?" I walked around this Park after and there was SO much action. Sand Volleyball courts were packed, Pickleball courts were active, a turf field with some kids playing soccer and others running routes, a skate park, multiple playgrounds, picnic tables hosting kids' birthdays, some pull up bars and other workout equipment, etc. It was beautiful. People off their phones, connecting with the local community, or just doing activities that bring them joy. Scrolling can only give so much dopamine. I loved that there was a tiny toddler play area! However since the park is awesome it gets high volume real fast so I recommend going like 9ish to avoid crowding.

Well maintained park, with updated equipment and consistently cleaned. Definitely one of the best parks for kids and families in Jacksonville. Very centrally located and often very busy as a result of it's high quality. Highly recommend visiting if you have kids and are new to the area. Excellent outside option for the entire family.

This place is amazing for families and kids of all ages and abilities! There is so much to do: tennis & basketball courts, soccer field, skate park, and two age appropriate gated parks. They also have a seasonal splash pad! There are plenty of seats around the park for parents, restrooms, water fountains, picnic tables, a couple of grills, and a walking path around the whole thing. There is also a parks and recreation center but I didn't go inside so I can't say anything about it.
