I have visited Spare Time Madison multiple times, and renting bowling shoes was never a mandatory requirement. However, during my last visit, I was charged for shoe rental without being asked, and when I questioned it, they simply told me it was mandatory—no explanation, no courtesy, just a charge thrown at me. I checked their website, and there is no clear indication of this policy. But what truly infuriated me was how my daughter, who has a foot disability, was forced to change her shoes or not play at all. She physically couldn’t wear those shoes, yet they showed zero empathy or flexibility. Because of this, she was unable to play. This was blatant discrimination, and their lack of understanding and respect for people with disabilities is absolutely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the manager, Erik, was incredibly rude and completely lacked professionalism and tact when dealing with us. Instead of handling the situation properly, he dismissed our concerns without any regard for basic human decency. This place clearly has zero respect for customer experience and absolutely no consideration for people with disabilities. They are more focused on enforcing arbitrary rules and squeezing money out of customers than actually providing a welcoming and inclusive environment. Shameful and completely unacceptable. I will never come back, and I will make sure others are aware of how they treat people.

Fair warning - Not a place for actual bowlers. Lanes are absolutely flooded with oil the entire way down. String pin bowling is not regulation, lots of weird pin action. Designed for tourist/party bowling and not actual league or practice for real bowling. Otherwise it’s a fun place I could see. Also bonus star for the pizza being actual crispy and pretty good!

I was here with some friends in search of a good time. While I was waiting for one more person to show up and we saw this slow sign in a block of concrete which was broken and the sign had fallen off. Pretty sure that’s a safety hazard but anywho, we all took turns seeing which one of us could lift it. For the record, we were lifting it and then carefully setting it back down, not just dripping it until someone who I assume was the manager came out screaming at us to leave and that she would call the police. I bet that if she did she would’ve only gotten herself into that trouble (because of the broken sign I mentioned) and so we left but before we left she took our dear chair that was gift from me to my friend for his birthday. Later when the other 2 people showed up we asked them if they could go inside and recover our chair and what happened? They also got kicked out. Now I admit what I was doing may have been worthy of getting kicked out, but they were unrightfully kicked out. To make matters worse we went back around checking the dumpers for this chair because SHE said it was in there but what did we find? A whole bunch of nothing. I’m glad we went to Geekz Mania instead. I want my chair back.

I was hesitant to come here based off the reviews but I'm so glad I gave it a try. The experience was anything but a let down. Their arcade offers a variety of games. They have spare time after dark from 10-12 for some cheaper bowling. Their bar did not disappoint and the service was great. Amber was new on the job but so attentive and polite! My husband and I did the area 51 escape room and boy was that a challenge. Definitely check it out:) Can't recommend this place enough!
