Stumptown Escape Games

We are super into escape rooms and have tried many escape room experiences, and Stumptown is by far our favorite. We have done each of their rooms and can’t wait to keep coming back for new rooms. The stories are engaging and challenging in such a way that you feel fulfilled and proud when you finally figure it out—and if you need a hint, you can always ask. I have never been disappointed by Stumptown Escape Games. The best around.

I had reservations for some time to take the family to Star Crash Academy in 2/22/25. On 2/21/25 I checked their website to remind myself of their address etc. only to see that because they lost the lease to their space, their last day of being open for business was 1/25/25. While I feel bad for them that they lost their lease, not notifying customers who already had reservations was extremely poor customer service. I found out by accident online. I suppose that's better than driving an hour and finding out at their door. The message on their website indicates that they knew this was a possibility for some time. Yet, they still didn't notify people who had reservations. Make sure they are open in their new location before you book! Of course they're not responding to emails or answering their phone now.

For context we have done a lot of escape rooms at a lot of different places in and outside Portland area. Also, we have done almost all the rooms at Stumptown. This is our preferred escape room venue in Portland area. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Our name is on the winner wall several times. 😊 So much fun!

Really fun experience! I have to say it says 13 and up, but for my 14 daughters it was REALLY difficult. I am sure not all of the rooms are the same but for us it was extremely challenging. Also, the statement was that if you didnt make it out, you didnt graduate your space test. Kind of lame compared to the other escape room they just went to for a friends birthday. It was scary and more teen friendly I guess. You were in a scary house and had to get out otherwise you would stay there forever and die. A little bit more exciting than being in a space theme room that was just mostly confusing. Also all of thr riddles/clues were in no specific order in this escape room, making it extremely confusing and stressful because everyone is working on seperate things and no one knows what to work on next. They didnt start solving the clues until almost 30 minutes in, and did not make it out of the escape room. Prices were really great however, and the staff was amazing! Our gamemaster gave some good hints which we needed and were fun to be around! Overall, probable more of an adult escape room though.

Zero stars. Our reservation was cancelled same day via email. We didn't see the email, so unfortunately arrived anyway. The place was filthly. Then we were told that we would get a credit or voucher to reschedule. 4 weeks later and multiple emails sent to them with no response and still no refund or credit for the purchase amount. Don't waste your money.
