After our picnic nearby, I took my children here to see this mural and explained to them picture by picture the history behind it. Judy Baca's mural is stunning! There's a path that follows the mural and it's a worthwhile stop. I love the combination of art and history. The emphasis on California's history is the main theme. They captured the perspectives of the indigenous people of this land with powerful imagery. Definitely a must see!

This is on the side of Ulysses S. Grant High School. It's a great long walking area with historical pictures on the wall. If you know the history it's interesting to walk and look at the pictures.

A colorfully interesting work of art that I first saw while driving by on Coldwater Canyon Blvd. I had to walk over for a closer look! I parked at the LA Valley College Baseball lot on Burbank Blvd, a half block from the south end. From there, the mural chronology can be seen northbound, alongside the Tujunga Greenbelt of the Tujunga Wash, up to Oxnard Street. Thereβs a walking path along the length of the wall, from which viewing may take place. A fence provides protection from falling into the wash, though was in the way of picture taking. Iβve included a few sampler photos of just some of the art, and would recommend taking in the whole mural for complete continuity! Signage and banners by the Social and Public Art Resource Center could be updated. Meanwhile, there could also be more notice of this place, as it would be obscure, if not for the Google Maps listing!

This wall is a gem located in North Hollywood. You look at it through a fence which makes sense once you see what a treasure it is. It's a great place to bring young kids and talk with them about historical events. You might find yourself googling things you didn't know about. It is not a long walk, unless you live in the neighborhood, make sure you have something else planned in the area if you don't want to drive for over an hour back and forth for a 20 minutes walk.
